Description of the Blue-ringed Octopus
Characteristics: The Blue-Ringed Octopus is usually a dull brown colour with blue rings over its body. When it feels unsafe or is provoked it will change colour. Its body will change to bright yellow and its blue rings will show a brilliant blue. The Blue-Ringed Octopus has no bones thats why it is called an invertebrate and around the size of a golfball makes it easy to fit in to cracks and crevices.
Diet: The Blue-Ringed Octopus can chew through shells and crabs. They also eat other small fish that are washed up. Blue-ringed Octopuses can fit into dead snail shells to wait for their next victim to swim past. They also eat other invertebrates and wounded fish.
Dangers: The dangers to humans is being bitten. If bitten and not treated it may result in death or amputation of infected limb. It has suckers on its tentacles that can hold onto its prey. However, their is no anti-venom and if stung you may not be able to see the puncture wounds as bites are painless. Numbness will be experienced, and it may become difficult to speak or see. The dangers to other marine organisms is being killed and swallowed.Blue-ringed octopuses kill their prey with a potent toxin injected with their bite.

Habitat
Habitat:The Blue-Ringed Octopus is usually found washed up in rock pools. They can also be found in tidal pools and/or in other crevices in sea pools. They live in these areas because they blend in with their surroundings.
